Saint Nektarios Monastery

About Us

The Monastery is dedicated to Saint Nektarios of Aegina (†1920), who is rightfully referred to as "the Saint of our century," on account of the countless miracles he performs daily for the faithful seeking his help. The Monastery’s main chapel is dedicated to Archangel Michael of Mantamados.

The Monastery celebrates three feast days every year: The Translation of the Holy Relics of Saint Nektarios on Sept. 3rd; The Repose of Saint Nektarios Nov. 9th; Archangel Michael of Mantamados on the second Sunday after Easter (Sunday of the holy Myrrhbearers). All the services at the Monastery are conducted in Greek.

Daily Life

The Monastery follows the cenobitic rule of monastic life. The entire brotherhood of monks and novices follow a common daily schedule of prayer and work under obedience to the abbot. The monks’ daily program begins at midnight with personal prayer time and spiritual reading, followed by the Divine Liturgy. After a rest period and a light breakfast, the monks begin their work day, attending to prayer and their tasks till evening. Tasks include construction, grounds keeping, gardening, publishing, food preparation, and offering hospitality. The day ends with evening Vespers followed by dinner and Compline.
